In honor of the completion of the first full week of school, here is this week's friday funny, the school version.
We had the kids' curriculum nights at school last night, and can I just say that school is not what it used to be. I mean that in a good way. One of the complaints about public schools used to be that it held back the smart kids and treated everyone the same.
Well, not anymore. Everything is differentiated for each child's level. Even in second grade the kids have separated spelling lists (3 different levels) and advanced math sheets if they need the challenge. And by third grade they are pre-testing each math unit and separating the kids into classes based on those tests. And that's not even including the hour that the "pace" (gifted or whatever you want to call it) kids are taken out for math and/or reading starting in third grade. Or the reading specialists for kids who are struggling. Teachers are amazing!
Have a great weekend!
